We were asked to look at a Mahogany Parquet floors for a Client in Somerset. The Hallway has been well used for a number of years, but was looking worn and the lacquer was thin. The Dining Room had always lived under a carpet, but was in good condition, it had  sanding marks where the Hallway was finished but not continued into the Dining Room.

As the Client’s were Elderly, we had agreed to moving the furniture for them and placing in a safe place. Once the rooms had been cleared, we began with the Dining Room and the floor was Belt Sanded with 60 Grit to remove the excess lacquer, level the floor and produce a level of flatness from which to continue. The process was carried out via the “Dustless” system, which employs the heaviest extraction of dust from the machines directly, so very little wood dust enters the environment.

The same was then applied to the Hallway. All the edges were finished with 60 Grit discs to match the finish.

From this we continued the floors sanding process with the Bona Flexi Sand, a multi disc gear driven dustless system, that produces an even extremely flat finish. We worked through 80, 100 and 120 grit finishes with both the Flexi Sand and the Edging tool.

The floor was heavily vacuumed between grits before moving on to the next level.

Once completed, the floor was ready for finishing. The Client had selected a Satin Look, so we used Loba Prima Seal Plus and finished with Loba Easy Finish Semi Gloss.

The Client was extremely pleased with the end results and we have left a complimentary cleaning solution for them to maintain the floors.
